My uncle (cut from the same cloth as my mother) forwarded my mother an email attacking Kerry.... comprised entirely of Leno, Letterman, and Weekend Update quotes. Cropped, I'm sure, from between Bush jokes.

Is it so difficult to see that Republicans have no legs to stand on?

Sure they do. Because clay feet are only clay feet when other Republicans don't think they are made of gold.. and people like Bill O'Reilly are credible to them. As long as people are that stupid and so willing to believe lies it doesn't matter how much Chomsky or anyone says or how right they are because people want to believe the lies. It is sort of like what Orwell call's "crimestop." No matter how much you break something down so stupid believe can understand it, they will fail to grasp it because they don't want to believe it for whatever reason. Maybe because it is easier to believe the world is a happy happy place, that someday they are going to miraculously get rich and so they need to support the Republicans for when that day comes, and that when they are rich they are going to be happy (they should pick up a copy of The Great Gatsby).

It's easy to mantain this kind of control by simply keeping the populace uneducated by cutting funding to public schools, manipulating text books (Zinn needs to be in our schools), voucher programs that give money to private schools that support the official revision of history, and screwing schools that most need funding by coming up with half-whit programs that supposedly leave no child behind (everyone gets screwed equally).
