Hi Jeff:
Thanks for giving us a place to post. Coupla questions. Breaking new ground by cussing in your title does not sound like you're getting more conservative in the strict definition of the term. Also, I am confused by your layout. Did you mean to have the second paragraph also in italics? Maybe it's my browser. Could you use quote marks in case the html goes funny?
Another thing, I have not researched this guy's degrees, but I appreciate your doing so, however, have you heard of home schooling? There's a concept behind it that people can research subjects without going to government schools. I am a sympathizer to home schooling, even tho never been/never done. Too bad the audience didn't want to listen to what he had to say first. It means they wrote him off before he started. If you read about the debate between Lincoln and his opponent--I forget his name-- they debated for hours and even took a break and went home in the middle of it. Why aren't university students trained in this any more? Seems like patience is a long lost art.

<i>Thanks for giving us a place to post. Coupla questions. Breaking new ground by cussing in your title does not sound like you're getting more conservative in the strict definition of the term.</i>

Um, ok, I said so?

<i>Also, I am confused by your layout. Did you mean to have the second paragraph also in italics? Maybe it's my browser. Could you use quote marks in case the html goes funny?</i>

Italics means I'm quoting something, and yes, both paragraphs were supposed to be that way. You can always check the source link if you think I italicised something that shouldn't have been.

<i>Another thing, I have not researched this guy's degrees, but I appreciate your doing so, however, have you heard of home schooling? I'm suspicious of home schooling in general, mostly because of the people I've seen doing it. Maybe I would be more sympathetic if he was home schooled and got the equivalent of a Ph.D in biology, but he didn't. At best he has a B.A. in biology, the school he went to for a Ph.D doesn't offer anything science related. Creationist argument are well known and have been rejected by the scientific community and the vast majority are easy to dismiss by someone with a high school biology class and some extra reading on the subject. I know they're fond of making themselves out to be the modern day equivalents to Copernicus, but that's just a rhetorical flourish to hide the fact that they have no evidence for their beliefs.

Like I said, I'm not sure exactly what happened, since I wasn't there. I tend to think she's exaggerating some, but who knows. That said, he's not saying anything new. Any biology professor has heard Creationist arguments and found them laughable (and Creationists won't dispute that, which you can see by the fact that they attack the scientific community as being dogmatic).
