WASHINGTON - For one night only, it’ll be spitballs and Swift Boats together on the same stage — a who’s who of Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) bashing.
The American Conservative Union on Thursday announced it has tapped Sen. Zell Miller (news, bio, voting record), D-Ga., to present the “Courage Under Fire” award to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth at the Conservative Political Action Conference’s Feb. 18 banquet.

“The swift boat veterans performed an invaluable service to America,” Miller said in a statement. “These veterans took a lot of undeserved criticism for daring to speak the truth.”
Well, Zell has set himself up nicely for a career as a speaker for conservative groups. You gotta have a source of income during retirement, I guess.

My uncle cited a news story claiming he’s going to be a regular contributor to Fox News. Suddenly, the ineptly-sided senatory that no one knew is the spittle-flecked Fuhrer of conservative polemic. I’m just surprised that anybody still gives a damn about the Swift Boat Vets. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that they were full of shit, and I doubt even Bush thinks that Kerry didn’t serve his country with pride. As soon as the election was over, Kerry was a “brave competitor” and all that jazz. “Naw, we didn’t really mean any of that crap we said about Kerry being un-American or anything, it’s just politics, you know?” Yet now Miller seems to be taking his one-night stand with unabashedly carnivorous invective and taking it up a notch to chronic insanity… which there’s apparently a very good market for.
So let me get this straight. The Swift boat vets were angry with Kerry for freely stating things before congress that they refused to give up under daily torture. Are you suggesting they had no right to be angry about that nor have the right to speak out against him? Free speech sucks when it’s your guy getting gored?
