I agree with the ends (a la carte cable) but not the justification ("Won't somebody think of the children?!"). I worry that if moral hysteria is a vehicle for legislation controlling business, it'll will open the gates for unconstitutional control of private industry for frivolous reasons.

Actually if they had a la carte cable I would subscribe. Every time the power is out for an extended period I have to go over to my Mother's house and block out the channels she doesn't want to deal with, like the shopping channels, the music channels, the sports channels, and the screaming evangelical channels. She says she's too old to have to waste her time skipping through channels she doesn't want.

She also has two NBC and two CBS local channels, so a lot of what is on her system is unwanted and annoying.
