I’m confused
Published by Jeff, December 21st, 2005 in BushAdmittedly, I haven’t been following the wiretapping stuff closely enough, but I don’t understand why Bush would do this. FISA courts are apparently pretty easy, so it has to be something that even they wouldn’t authorize.
That’s a bit scary.
Jeff, as near as I can tell from the reporting, there was damn near nothing that court didn’t agree to a warrant for since it was established, and without a warrant you can’t use anything you gather in court.
Heh.. that was my first thought…
I’m troubled by the administration’s argument of, “well, it’s wartime, we have to have these broad executive powers b/c it’s wartime, oh, and btw, this war lasts forever”…. and, “trust us, we’re doing this to protect America, that’s all the check and balance you need”…..
I haven’t yet emailed with my Bush supporting right wing ideologue friend about this. I wonder what he’ll have to say.
