I don't know - I'll just speculate. One, Republicans are mostly in control of the voting machinery, and have the luxury of being able to choose their opponent. After finishing third in Iowa (where the vote was honest), a New Hampshire defeat would have started the bell tolling on Hillary. Her win revived her. And, she's got high negatives, so she would be the easiest to beat in November. Obama, on the other hand, is sexy enough that he might just catch a wave and win. The object is a Republican victory in November, and Hillary is best poised to hand it to them. One other possibility - they did it becuase they can. Why have a toy and not play with it?
