I love when the courts rule that religion is insanity. There was an article on Slashdot about how 23% of the US believes in ghosts. In the comments, which are always the best part of /. someone pointed out that it is closer to 100% since a large majority of the US believes in a religion with an invisible higher power. Me.. I just believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Russel's Teapot, and the Invisible Pink Unicorn.

They wouldn't really be Republicans if they were arguing for coherent and legal changes, would they?

Good point. Just goes to show that somewhere down deep even religious people know it's all bullshit.

/wishful thinking

p.s. -- holy crap. i've been transcribing hearings and markups on the side for my old company, and i'm sitting here typing one now. and the republicans are just completely contrarian. they oppose every decent idea, even when the reasons for their opposition contradict each other. this particular markup is about a bill that would give federal money to school districts for making capital improvements to their school buildings. and first the republicans argue it's too expensive; then they argue it doesn't give *enough* money to make a dent. then they ask that the davis-bacon prevailing wage laws be stripped from the bill, so that construction workers could be paid *less* than $7/hour thereby not "wasting billions of dollars". then they suggest that schools receiving funding be forced to have morning prayers, etc. it just keeps getting more and more inane.
