I honestly think God Is An Astronaut is one of the few post-rock bands out there doing something original. It's kinda like, you either sound like Explosions, Mogwai, Godspeed, or some random combination thereof. Maybe End of the Beginning is too electronic for some people (I personally love it), but I felt like All is Violent, All is Bright is incredibly solid from start to finish. Right up there with "Enter" as far as instrumental albums that never bore me. But I agree that their s/t is them hitting a stride- I certainly won't argue if they keep playing more frenetic stuff.

I'll have to check that one out. Of the other albums of his I've checked out since Dig!!! Lazaurs Dig!!!, I really like Let Love In and find Murder Ballads boring. Nothing like the pure loathing I had for him as a teenager, though.

If anything Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus should have changed your mind about Nick Cave. Even Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! is ho-hum (I think) compared to it.
