It's kinda like, you either sound like Explosions, Mogwai, Godspeed, or some random combination thereof. Maybe End of the Beginning is too electronic for some people (I personally love it), but I felt like All is Violent, All is Bright is incredibly solid from start to finish. Right up there with "Enter" as far as instrumental albums that never bore me. But I agree that their s/t is them hitting a stride- I certainly won't argue if they keep playing more frenetic stuff. Of the other albums of his I've checked out since Dig!!! Lazaurs Dig!!!, I really like Let Love In and find Murder Ballads boring. Nothing like the pure loathing I had for him as a teenager, though.
