How precious. And the Right was always worried about the ideological kinship of communists and liberals. Apparently, we need to be worried about the inhumanity shared between communists and Republicans.
I’m proposing this as an explanation for why conservatives are supposedly happier than liberals. Clearly, if you’re the kind of person who supports torture, despiting knowing [...]
While I’m just copying news from Pharyngula, Ken Ham, who runs Answers in Genesis, spoke at a Pentagon prayer breakfast.
Ken Ham believes the planet is less than 6000 years old and that the story of Noah’s Ark actually happened. And they’re letting him near the Pentagon.
I believe our governor said something about not needing people [...]
A couple of important stories out today: Senate committee: Bush knew Iraq claims weren’t true and more information on our permanent bases in Iraq.
The first isn’t anything new. We’ve known that the White House ignored whatever information wasn’t useful to their case for war. That meant ignoring consensus on al Qaeda-Iraq ties and ignoring significant [...]
There’s apparently a SOTU address tonight. Right now, even. I’m tempted to watch it, just because it’s the last one Bush is going to give. Even that’s not enough, though. What’s he going to do in a year? Actually, I shouldn’t say that. He’ll do something insane and prove me wrong.
I’m not sure what [...]
You keep using that word…
1 Comment Published by Jeff, November 12th, 2007 in Bush, Civil liberties, GeneralWe’re now supposed to change our definition of privacy. Nice. No longer does it mean, you know, things being kept private, but that the government gets whatever it wants and promises not to do bad things with it.
I suppose if you haven’t done anything wrong, you have nothing to hide. Until they decide you are [...]
According to this guy:
Having been subjected to this technique, I can say: It is risky but not entirely dangerous when applied in training for a very short period. However, when performed on an unsuspecting prisoner, waterboarding is a torture technique - without a doubt. There is no way to sugarcoat it.

Unless you have been strapped [...]
Petraeus and Crocker have begun their Congressional briefings in the past two days and it’s really not impressive. I’m a fan of this nonsense:
Petraeus’s plan would rotate 2,200 Marines out of Anbar province in western Iraq this month without replacing them, then begin pulling out 17,500 Army troops and 2,000 more Marines starting in mid-December. [...]
I am declaring myself a non-citizen for the purposes of tax collection and a citizen otherwise. I thank you for your understanding.
Is it just me, or is the White House approaching crazy militia “I am a sovereign nation!” territory?
I suppose I need to start thinking about this
0 Comments Published by Jeff, April 4th, 2007 in 2008 elections, Bush, IraqWell, fuck. I realize I have plenty of time to think about the Democratic nominees for President, but this really throws a monkey wrench into things. I’m inclined to agree with Colby. If Congress is simply going to roll over when Bush vetoes the spending bill, what good are they? Granted, the Democrats can’t override [...]
Mistakes were made! Whoops, how did all those attorneys get fired? Silly me, I just clicked the wrong button and they were gone. And ones that weren’t zealous enough about nonexistent voter fraud, too.
What a strange mistake.
